DISCOVERING THE FILM & TELEVISION MARKET IN INDIA: Ivanhoe Pictures executive Kilian Kerwin will give a case study of their immersion into the Indian marketplace. In particular, an examination into how a US-based content company has recently broken into the film/TV business in Mumbai and beyond. Topics of discussion will include: development, production, "co-productions," financing, strategic alliances and partnerships, global strategies, and distribution (theatrical and otherwise).

Ivanhoe Pictures was formed in late 2013 to develop, produce, and finance motion picture and television content for a global audience. Ivanhoe established a multi-picture co-financing pact with Fox International Productions (FIP) to produce local language films in India, South Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan. Several films have been produced under this partnership, including the South Korean thriller THE WAILING by director Na Hong-jin (THE CHASER). Ivanhoe also has partnered with Blumhouse Productions to produce local-language genre content in both India and Korea. The first of these, GHOUL, is Hindi-language series planned for release on Netflix in June 2018.

Ivanhoe has recently completed production (with co-financing and co-producing producers Golden Karavan) DELHI POLICE PROJECT (working title), an 8-part Hindi-language true crime series written and directed by Richie Mehta (ALAM, SIDDARTH), starring Shefali Shah (MONSOON WEDDING, JUICE), Adil Hussain (LIFE OF PI, HOTEL SALVATION), Denzil Smith (THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL).

Ivanhoe is developing many projects in India, including (in association with Easterly Productions) UNREAD PAGES, to be written and directed in Assamese by Jahnu Barua (HKHAGOROLOI BOHU DOOR, I DID NOT KILL GANDHI); THE MANGANIYAR CLASSROOM, to be directed in Hindi by Roysten Abel (based on his stage play); and BHUMI, a horror series to be written and directed by Pavan Kirpalani (PHOBIA).

Ivanhoe is also producing a slate of original content including CRAZY RICH ASIANS with producer Nina Jacobson (THE HUNGER GAMES) and director Jon Chu (G.I JOE: RETALIATION), which Warner Bros will release worldwide in August 2018. In Mexico, Ivanhoe is developing the film adaptation of Luis Spota’s iconic novel CASI EL PARAISO with writer/producer Edgar San Juan (NORTEADO) and director Gary Alazraki (NOSOTROS LOS NOBLES).
KILIAN KERWINKILIAN KERWIN: Having started in feature-film production (as assistant to acclaimed director Tony Scott), Kilian moved into the development arena, first as an executive and then as a screenwriter.Over a ten-year span he wrote projects for Universal Pictures, Miramax, Paramount Pictures, Fox 2000, Dreamworks Animation, and Twentieth Century Fox.

Kilian also wrote and directed a feature film, LEARNING CURVES, which aired on Showtime Networks and starred Sophia Bush. He is currently President of Production at Ivanhoe Pictures, where he oversees local-language projects from territories including India, Korea, China, and Latin America, as well as selected international English-language motion picture and international television series.A graduate of Reed College (Portland OR), Kilian is also very involved in the rugby world.
