Sneh ‘Sunny’ Thakkar

Sneh “Sunny” Thakkar is honored to serve as the new Artistic Director of Music at the IAAC.

From a musically-inclined childhood in Gujarat, where he studied tabla, to expanded cultural interests as a teenager in New York where he played lead roles in the off-Broadway plays, Mughal-E-Azam, Heer Ranjha & Amir Khusro, Sunny has nurtured a deep love for Indian classical music & arts. This has inspired him to present numerous concerts in the New York City area showcasing both Indian classical music legends & young artists. Sunny was awarded a citation from the Council of the City of New York for advancing the artistic community. He is privileged to continue advising a number of non-profit organizations, both in the United States & in India.

In addition to his involvement in the arts, Sunny has earned an MBA in Healthcare Management and is deeply involved in the care of cancer patients. He serves on the Executive Board of the Gerontology Professionals of Long Island (GPLI), is a member of the Healthcare Executives Club & was asked to serve on the Radiation Oncology Safety Stakeholders Initiative by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists .

In June 2018, Sunny’s efforts were also recognized by the Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, for his contributions in serving the community through his work in the healthcare field and also in the field of music and arts.
