Photograph, Sir, The Last Color to be screened at New York Indian Film Festival in May 2019
April 13, 2019

The 19th New York Indian Film Festival will feature Photograph, Sir, The Last Color in its lineup. The Indian-American festival will open with Rohena Gera's Sir starring Tillotama Shome and Vivek Gomber, and Vikas Khanna's debut feature film, The Last Color, will close the festival.

Festival director Aseem Chhabra made the lineup announcement on Twitter this week. Chhabra also indicated the festival will focus on Bengali cinema this year.

Gera's film, Sir, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, is about a man (Gomber) falling in love with his maid (Shome). The Last Color, starring Neena Gupta, was premiered at the Palm Springs International Film Festival earlier this year. The film revolves around the unlikely friendship between the widowed Noor (Gupta) and nine-year-old Chhoti (Aqsa Siddique).

Ritesh Batra's Photograph, which was released in India on 15 March, features Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a street photographer and Sanya Malhotra as a stranger who steps in to pose as fiancée in order to please his grandmother. Photograph will be screened on 10 May and will be part of the festival's centerpiece screening.

A question and answer session will likely follow the films' screenings. The New York Indian Film Festival will be held from 7 - 12 May.
