About Festival

IAAC sponsors musical talent who bring to fore the uniqueness of Indian classical music with its closeness to nature and unparalleled depth of improvisation. Through richly curated performances, IAAC aims to inspire a sense of sonic consciousness through the depth, range and universality of Indian music. IAAC partners with prestigious venues and organizations such as Carnegie Hall, Consulate General of India in New York, Symphony Space, Rubin Museum of Art, CUNY graduate center and more to provide world class acoustic platforms for the music lovers to appreciate their favorite artists.

What are the dates for the 2024 festival?

Do you pay the artists for the performance?

Yes. Artists are paid an honorarium for presenting their work at the festival. Since we are a non-profit, our means for providing financial support to artists are limited.

Do you present both solo and group works?

Yes, we present solos as well as groups (duets, trios, quartets, or larger!)

Sunny Thakkar
Festival Director, IAAC Music Festival

From a musically-inclined childhood in Gujarat, where he studied tabla, to expanded cultural interests as a teenager in New York, Sunny has nurtured a deep love for Indian classical music & arts. This has inspired him to curate and present numerous concerts in the New York City area showcasing both Indian classical music legends & young artists. Sunny was awarded a citation from the Council of the City of New York for advancing the artistic community. He is privileged to continue advising a number of non-profit organizations, both in the United States & in India.
