LYNDA HANSEN

Lynda Hansen has been a pioneer and major force behind the evolution of American independent film since its emergence in the Eighties. She is a producer, a producer's representative, and a consultant to film companies, screenwriters, directors, and film festivals. She recently co-produced "Ruthie & Connie: Every Room in the House," by three time Oscar Nominee and Peabody Award Winner, Deborah Dickson. The film, after garnering twenty audience and juried awards and other honors at 80 over festivals worldwide, recently premiered on HBO. Hansen is also the rights agent for the film and Ruthie and Connie. HBO Films is in development with a dramatic feature based on the lives of Ruthie and Connie. Ms. Hansen's company also has several films and a TV series in development.

Internationally known for her innovative ventures, Ms. Hansen was Founding Director of American Independents and Features Abroad (AIFA), the decade long annual consortium of over 100 filmmakers and distribution companies at the Berlin Film Festival. AIFA profoundly influenced CO-production and distribution of American independent film globally. As an activist for filmmakers, Hansen also Co-Founded and Co-Chaired the "First Look Screening Series," at the Tribeca Film Center, which also ran for 10 years, with her at the helm for four years with her founding partners and Co Chairs, Tribeca Film Center and Eastman Kodak.

Ms. Hansen was Co-Director of Programming for the Hamptons International Film Festival for four year (through 2001), US Representative to the Berlin Film Festival's International Forum for New Cinema (from 1995 through 2001), and Executive Vice President of Mystic Fire Video in 1997. She previously headed up the film program at the New York Foundation for the Arts (1984-1995), working one on one with filmmakers in developing their films, garnering funds and often seeing the films onto the festival circuit and into distribution, while juggling "First Look" and AIFA. She stepped down both when she left NYFA to strike out on with her own company, Lynda A. Hansen, & Associates, Ltd. Among the many filmmakers she has touched under the rubric of one of her programs or another are Errol Morris, M. Knight Shayamalan, Maysles Films, and Todd Haynes. All positions she has held since forming her own company, provides a full company profile.
