It was just a run-on-the-mill day at Times Square. As dusk dawned, everything seemed ordinary. And then, at the bottom of the Bleachers, faint music commenced. Out popped a head, two, and three and all of a sudden the crowd was cheering to the scintillating flash mob, grooving on the chiming music of 'Jai Ho'. The flash mob, courtesy New York Indian Film Festival and Ajna Dance Company, was a huge success as people were seen cheering for the mob and dancing on the euphonious number.

Making history on New York's iconic location, the flash mob attracted enough eyeballs with 'Jai Ho', which engulfed the ambience even after the show was over. It was a leaf straight out of Bollywood to promote the upcoming New York Indian Film Festival impending in May 5 -10.

The exciting two-minute performance saw scores of random faces rising from the crowd and merging on one platform to spread the word about the film festival. Jai Ho, being a popular number, was a great pick for the event. Hitting off instantly and with the crowd cheering and clicking pictures, participants laughed, danced and ravished in the epic moment creating a history on the landmark location.

The six day film festival, which kick starts in May, is the oldest South Asian Film Festival in United States. Dedicated to bring Bollywood on the international circuit featuring movies about the Indian subcontinent, the event covers docudramas, shorts films, special premiers to name a few. The festival will also feature a spotlight on British filmmaker, Gurinder Chadda known for her off beat yet popular movies such as 'Bend it like Beckham' starring Parminder Nagra, Keira Knightley, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Anupam Kher and Archie Panjabi.

Re-live the epic dance performance right in the heart of New York City at the Times Square, marking the start to the NYIFF 2014.
